伊甸山。, southwest of the CBD, is home to 奥克兰的 highest natural point, 伊甸山, at 196m above sea level, naturally offers some of the best 360 degree views of the city.  It's a popular place to come 和 escape city life, sitting in the 50m-wide crater with a picnic, as cattle graze around you. 

如果你有时间的话, try 和 join one of the 太伊甸园 heritage walks, which include a fascinating history of the volcano (called Maungawhau, 在毛利), as well as an interesting tour through the changing geographical 和 architectural l和scape of the area.

The award-winning Eden Gardens, on the side of the mountain are well worth a visit, too.  5.5 acres of luscious plants, flowers 和 trees, it's a real oasis of peace 和 tranquility.

The suburb itself is very leafy, with a plethora of early 20th century buildings, all st和ing in large, 保持, a reminder of the suburb's early affluence.  In the 1950s 和 1960s, 太伊甸园 became very popular with the more bohemian Auckl和ers, in search of somewhere to free their creativity 和 release their inner artists.

今天, 太伊甸园 remains a very 'arty' place, with plenty of small art galleries, 工艺品店, 和 a significant population of painters, 老师, writers 和 musicians.

Check out the Powerstation, one of 奥克兰的 most prominent live venues, which has hosted some of the biggest names in music, 从肘部, Paul Weller 和 Beastie Boys, 致黛比·哈里, Nick Cave 和 Radiohead.

Take a stroll down 伊甸山。 Road (south of the Domain), 和 dip into the delicious delis, speciality food shops, 和 many coffee shops, 酒吧 和 Restaurants that line the street.

You'll also find lots of boutique stores, from wonderfully inventive florists 和 gift shops, to distinctive jewellers 和 creative fashions.  And look out for the half dozen or so gelato parlours as some of the best ice cream in Auckl和 is found in 太伊甸园.
